COVID-19 – CORONA VIRUS ANNOUNCEMENT

Beginning June 23, 2020, Courthouse staff will conduct mandatory screenings to include temperature checks on all persons entering the Courthouse. Anyone answering affirmatively to the screening questions or with a temperature of 100.4 degrees or greater will not be allowed to enter the facility. Special accommodations will be available for those individuals. Due to employees in various offices having already tested positive for Covid-19, the Courthouse has undergone intensive cleaning and sanitization. Any positive testing employee will follow the CDC/ Department of Health guidelines for returning to work. It is the recommendation of the Department of Health and Constitutional Officers that anyone entering the Courthouse should wear a face mask/ covering to protect themselves and others. Please understand that anyone not wearing a mask does so at their own risk. You will notice barriers have been placed between staff and customers for the protection of the public. We ask that you also continue to practice social distancing while in the Courthouse. While some of these measures were already in place, we are taking increased precautions given the continued rise in cases.

Pursuant to Third Judicial Circuit Administrative Order, the following court proceedings have been suspended until further notice:

1) All jury selection, jury trials, and grand jury proceedings are suspended.

2) All county and circuit criminal court events, this includes felony, misdemeanor, criminal traffic, and civil traffic, have been suspended, with the exception of first appearances, in-custody Change of Plea, bond reduction hearings, in which release from incarceration of the defendant is expected, and matters which the court determines to be urgent upon motion. These hearings will be performed remotely rather than in-person court appearances.

3) All hearings in the family, juvenile delinquency, juvenile dependency, county civil, circuit civil, probate, guardianship, mental health, and civil traffic division shall be conducted by electronic means or shall be continued, with the exception of juvenile detention hearings, shelter hearings, hearings on petitions for temporary injunctions relating to the safety of an individual, risk protection hearings, baker act hearings, and other matters which the court determines to be urgent upon motion of a party.
